Phra Sanitwong surrenders to CSD | Bangkok Post: news

A stand-in temple spokesman meets the press last Friday with a sketch of Phra Sanitwong at his side, after he disappeared from public view sight last week. (Bangkok Post file photo)Phra Sanitwong Wuthiwangso, head of the communications office of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, surrendered to the Crime Suppression Division on Thursday morning after a warrant was issued on Wednesday for his arrest, according to media reports. The Thanyaburi Court in Pathum Thani approved an arrest warrant for Phra Sanitwong for alleged defamation of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), inciting unrest and violating the Computer Crime Act. He said police had earlier been contacted by Phra Sanitwong's lawyer, who made arrangements for the monk to surrender and hear the charges. After he was charged and the preliminary questioning completed, police would take Phra Sanitwong to the Criminal Court and seek permission to detain him further.
